Make Tradeshows your #1 Resolution for 2018

Posted by: Jaclyn Deter

If you’re looking for a New Year’s resolution that’s reasonable, achievable and will help you advance your career, consider putting “Attend a tradeshow” on your list.

Aside from keeping yourself up-to-date on relevant industry players, products and trends, attending a tradeshow or conference comes with a wealth of additional benefits that maybe you hadn’t considered. The biggest of those, perhaps, is the opportunity to earn Continuing Education Units (CEUs) if you have organizational or educational responsibilities.

Each show hosts its own laundry list of events from hour-long speaking events to half- and full-day courses presented by industry leaders, engineers and educational entities. During any of these learning sessions, visitors can expect to gain insight on valuable and relevant industry topics such as technologies, product applications and case studies — easily earning required certified Professional Development Hours (PDHs) and CEUs along the way.

For those interested in learning more about what the industry can offer in terms of existing practical solutions, look no further than the tradeshow floor. With new innovations found at booths, as well as in showcases throughout the show floor, there is no place that brings as many current infrastructure technologies and ideas together than a tradeshow. The floor will be your best opportunity to explore and personally interact with the newest industry products.

The International Erosion Control Association 2018 Annual Conference in Long Beach, California, for example, will be attended by 130 exhibitors from 25 countries. The opportunity to learn the latest about the erosion control industry is worth the price of admission alone; however, the benefits of this, and many other shows like it, are far more extensive. For starters, many exhibitors, Milliken Infrastructure included, will not only have product marketers at their booths, but engineers that can answer to specific application questions and really offer broader insights on your specific project. Depending on the crowd, these engineers will be able to provide visitors with one-on-one attention to discuss products, what will work, what won’t work and what the best options for the application are.

Conferences and tradeshows exist throughout the year all over the country. Some of the other major shows to consider in 2018 are:

  • January 29 to February 1: Pipeline Pigging and Integrity Management (PPIM) in Houston
  • March 25-29: NASTT’s No-Dig show in Palm Springs, CA
  • July 17-20: ASCE Pipelines in Toronto

Interested in learning more but don’t have time to attend trade shows? Our exhibiting team can set up a lunch and learn for you and your organization with our product engineers. During these lunch and learns, you can expect to receive as much time as you’ll need to discuss product and application nuances as they pertain to your specific project.  Those interested in setting up a lunch and learn can also call 1-855-655-6750.
