Concrete Cloth™ Project Recognized as Top Project by Storm Water Solutions

Posted by: Jaclyn Deter

Concrete Cloth™ GCCM, a product manufactured by Milliken Infrastructure Solutions, LLC, and distributed by Nuna Innovations, has been recognized for its Myra Falls Ditch Lining project as a Top Project by Storm Water Solutions.

The Top Project recognition is awarded annually to ten recent storm water and erosion control projects that are most remarkable and innovative in nature.

The winning Myra Falls Ditch Lining project repaired a diversion ditch at an underground zinc and copper mine in Central Vancouver Island, Canada. The challenging installation covered 11,125 square meters and was completed between August 1 and September 15, 2016. Concrete Cloth™ GCCM CC8, which is licensed from Concrete Canvas, was instrumental in the success of the project. Specifically, the material is able to cope with high water velocities in excess of 18 meters per second, profile variances to accommodate the remote terrain, and the ease of repair in a remote location if future damage should occur due to falling trees or boulders from the hillside above the ditch.

“The project’s resolution in six short weeks wouldn’t have been possible without our partner, Nuna Innovations,” said John Hepfinger, Global Market Director of Milliken Infrastructure. “Project Manager Ron Drewry and his team executed the complex design required to resolve the erosion issues and were strategic partners in completing the project before October, when the mine traditionally sees heavy precipitation.”

The Myra Falls Ditch Lining project will be recognized at the Storm Water Solutions fall Virtual Expo and in their November/December 2017 issue.
