Milliken Infrastructure Solutions (MIS) attended NASTT’s No-Dig Show on March 17-19, 2019. No-Dig is the largest trenchless technology conference in North America, where professionals attend to learn new techniques that will save money and improve infrastructure. Scott Naiva, PE, presented twice during the show on sewer rehabilitations using our product, GeoSpray® geopolymer mortar.

During his first presentation, “DC Water New Jersey B Street 10 to 18 ft Diameter Trunk Sewer Rehabilitation during Live Dry Weather Flow,” Scott explained how the asset owner used GeoSpray mortar to rehabilitate over 4400 linear feet of a 10- to 18-foot span masonry pipe that traveled through the National Mall in Washington, D.C. He emphasized how the dense tourist area required a small construction footprint, which GeoSpray mortar could provide compared to alternative rehabilitation methods.

In his second presentation, “Narragansett Bay Commission Rehabilitation of Large Diameter Brick Sewer with GeoSpray Geopolymer Mortar,” Scott presented on how the Narragansett Bay Commission used GeoSpray mortar to repair about 2400 linear feet of a large diameter brick sewer that had structural cracks in the crown and other places that were creating high levels of infiltration. The main challenge of the repair site was access, which made choosing our geopolymer ideal due to the smaller amount of equipment needed compared to alternative rehabilitation methods that were considered.

Scott used both of his speaking engagements to educate his listeners on what a geopolymer is and the chemistry behind our innovative product.

If you were unable to attend either of Scott’s presentations or stop by our booth at No Dig 2019, please feel free to contact us to learn more about how our products and engineering team can help support your next rehabilitation project.
